For the last 6 years, I've spent 2+ hours every single day on YouTube.
That's 4,000+ hours on the platform.
Started off just watching random stuff like everyone else. But at some point I got weirdly obsessed with figuring out why some videos blow up and others don't.
What I ended up doing:
- Made multiple channels - some did okay, others were complete disasters that I pretended never happened
- Worked as an editor for a YouTuber who was actually successful, got to see how this stuff really works behind the scenes
- Tried every growth hack and strategy I could find, most didn't work
- Helped other creators with their content, which was honestly more fun
I've been the:
- New creator checking views every 10 minutes
- Editor watching good content get zero views for no reason
- Guy who gets genuinely excited when a pattern finally clicks
Here's what I figured out:
YouTube isn't random. There are actual systems behind what works. Small stuff that adds up over time.
In the next few posts, I’ll share what actually worked for me and the patterns I’ve recognized
